International
English Language Testing System (IELTS) is conducted by two certifying
authorities, one is the British Council and the other is IDP,
Australia. Both are acceptable. This test is primarily taken to
certify nurses or any other professionals for whom English is
not their native language.
IELTS tests
the English speaking, writing, reading, and listening of foreign-trained
nurses.
This examination
is conducted throughout the year at various centers across the
world. In India, there are 30 centers and the examinations are
conducted thrice a month at each of these centers.
IELTS SCORES
To clear or
certify for IELTS, all foreign-trained nurses are required to
obtain the following scores in Speaking and Overall (Writing,
Reading, and Listening)

Band of 7 and above and this is out of a total score of
9 |

Overall
Band of 6.5 and above and this is out of a total score of
9. |
The first
score of 7 is critical for every nurse since this will enable
us to obtain his/her Visa Screen Certificate, which is required
at the time of US Visa Stamping.
The second
score or an Overall Band of 6.5 or above is required to help us
start process his/her green card.
